Downtown Charleston Renovation Project – Queen Street
This post probably should have been the start of my blog but better late then never. Some of my friends know of this project but other readers may not and I wanted to pay homage to my first project that I jumped into not knowing anything! When people heard that my husband and I bought this home they thought we were nuts and for me I think I was just naive and I'm glad I was because it made this project a great learning experience and adventure. I truly cannot say what I had envisioned and all I had was a set of
Mission new front door
The exterior of a home is just as important to me as the interior of a home. I have to say my latest obsession is finding a new front door. I love when I show properties and the front door is great- the planters, wreath or whatever else they have accessorizing the entrance is just right, it makes you so excited to see the inside- it's almost like opening a present! My door is this red/orange color and lacks a wow factor. This simple one story ranch needs a wow factor. So my first goal is to get a new front door!
Meet the talented Sarah Jeffers Beauchene from Reclaimed Artistry
I had the recent pleasure of meeting Sarah from Reclaimed Artistry through another mutual friend of mine. Since then we've had coffee, a chance to learn more about one another, talk about work, our homes (she's a neighbor) and now she's working on a piece for Cooper's room which I cannot wait to share with all of you! She's a super talented, down to earth, fun lady with this knack for creating fabulous artwork!LPS: What inspired you to become an artist?Sarah: There are two answers to that question. During college and for years after I tried to be anything but
A garage sale, $10, paint and voila
Every weekend I keep saying I'm going to make it to a garage sale and of course I never do! However, some time ago, I did have a friend call me from a garage sale asking if I wanted a pair of end tables for $10- he sent a picture and I said, "sure for $10 why not?" I didn't realize some time later that this would be a great addition/investment for our new home. Of course I don't have the before picture but picture a blonde pine and brass handles- that should give you a good idea. So the sanding
"You better shop around"….
I wish I could remember all the lyrics but I'm having a serious moment of blankness! So I did what the song said and began my shopping for wallpaper. We are not talking floral wallpaper with a matching boarder- I'm talking about the return of the Grasscloth wallpaper and yours truly got sucked in and has taken the leap to put it on the walls of my dining room. I just received it today and it is going up on Monday! Cooper was just as excited to see the UPS truck as me. I had not planned on doing any wallpaper in
Let’s not stress- let’s distress- Finished Product and introduction of Lemongrass Home Decor
Do you remember these tables? Like I mentioned before, my father in law came in town and I let him work on these to see if this would be something he would enjoy. He had a good time and I just learned he is working on another piece- so much fun! The picture of the final results are below. There are so many way to redo furniture but in order to create the look on the side tables the first and most important step was to sand of the previous lacquer. Then he used Milk Paint that I found downtown
New look – new name- good feeling!
I'm so excited to finally have the new design on the blog! It suites me perfectly because I have to say that the colors are my true go to colors!I have to thank Kerry at Design Muse in Asheville for her great talent and of course my fabulous friend Jenn Simpson for helping me re-name the blog. I also need to thank my friend Ashely Jolly at Obviouslee Marketing for her feedback and support. I love these girls! So now that I've got these changes made I feel super inspired to get some great posts, that I've had in draft mode, on the
Joy to the world…(furniture world)- featured guest Joy Lang of Trinkets!
I had the pleasure of having coffee with my fabulous friend Joy Lang at our favorite Starbucks the other morning. She is this sassy, southern doll with a go-getter attitude and this insane talent for being super creative. She came from a small town called Hawkinsville in GA but has made a big city impression on me with her talent for redoing furniture. She like me is a realtor and has a serious passion for décor. I’m so happy we crossed paths because she has inspired me so much and has introduced me to other avenues on decorating!
Let’s not stress- let’s distress!
I’m super excited that I have my in-laws in town this weekend to help with a couple of important things. As I mentioned before, my father-in-law is an antique dealer in Greenville, SC and he has been curious about distressing furniture. So I’m going to let him have a go at it on two end tables that I have that need a makeover. I’m nervous and excited because I bought milk paint which is made for this type of project and I have yet to use it. I cannot wait to see the results-stay tuned for the reveal next week!
Charleston receives top spot in Reader’s Choice for Conde Nast
Charleston is hands down fabulous to me- I mean I live here, that must mean something right? I was super excited when I saw that we received the #1 spot for top cities! We beat San Francisco which I must say, if we ever moved to the west coast aka left coast I would choose San Fran as home. There are so many things that make this place great! For example, the beaches, the history, the night life, the shopping and most importantly the people. I can truly say we've found our home. We are blessed to be surrounded by so
